Keeping tabs on Tuesday's morning commute

Good morning, commuters!

All eyes will be on I-494 in the western suburbs where MnDOT did finish its work overnight and two southbound lanes will be available from the Fish Lake Interchange and Hwy. 55. For northbound drivers, there is only one lane. The opposite will be true for the evening commute.

Another trouble spot Monday was on Hwy. 55 over the Mendota Bridge. With the ramp to northbound/eastbound Hwy. 5/W. 7th Street closed, traffic stacked up and created lengthy delays for drivers trying to cross the Mississippi River near Fort Snelling. Both directions of Hwy 5 will be single lane with traffic traveling on the westbound lanes of the Hwy 5 bridge while it's being redecked. This configuration will be in place until the fall.

I'll be keeping an eye on the roads and rails this morning, reporting any delays or issues — and I will need your help.

If you see or hear about any congestion, delays or problems, e-mail drive@startribune or tweet @stribdrive.
