Keeping tabs on Friday's morning commute

Good morning, commuters!

It's dry now, but rain could be moving in before the rush hour is over. Remember, if you turn you wipers on, headlights must be on.

Cones and barrels are out on westbound Hwy. 55 on the Mendota Bridge. The right lane is closed. That is in addition to the road work that is taking place on Hwy. 5/W. 7th Street, so this could spell delays.

A reminder that southbound I-35E is down to two lanes between I-694 and Maryland Avenue through Maplewood and St. Paul. On Thursday, this led to backups on westbound I-694 back to Hwy. 61 at times. So prepare to hit the brakes heading through the Vadnais Heights/Little Canada commons.

I'll be keeping an eye on the roads and rails this morning, reporting any delays or issues — and I will need your help.

If you see or hear about any congestion, delays or problems, e-mail drive@startribune or tweet @stribdrive.
