Kathy Griffin stepped into the larger-than-life shoes of Joan Rivers Monday night for a "Fashion Police" takedown of Sunday's Golden Globes red carpet. While some fans thought Griffin was the right choice for E! in a difficult situation, others dressed her down on social media.

People seemed to either love Griffin or hate her as a new co-host, alongside returning hosts Giuliana Rancic, Kelly Osbourne, and fellow newcomer Brad Goreski. He fared only slightly better, with plenty of people calling for the return of George Kotsiopoulos, who departed last year.

Maybe people just don't like change.

Plenty of fans mourned the loss of Rivers, calling Griffin a poor substitute. A few fans even called her out for her lack of fashion knowledge, while others just didn't find her all that funny.

Griffin is a polarizing comedienne and personality in general, so it's not a huge surprise that the response to her performance on the show was the same. Working on the edge with haters on one side and superfans on the other, is a position Joan Rivers was all too familiar with throughout her own career.

TheWrap combed Twitter for the best and worst critiques of Griffin and the newly-revamped "Fashion Police." After all, if they're going to judge the fashion dos and don'ts of the Hollywood elite, they should be open to some critiques of their own, right?
