A police officer from Kasson, in southeastern Minnesota, is being held on unconditional bond of $1 million after being charged with criminal sexual conduct in Olmsted County.
Julio Baez-Cisneros, 51, was arrested this week at a Winona motel.
The criminal complaint said Baez-Cisneros admitted he sexually abused two girls, one for 11 years, from the time she was 5 until she was 16. The second girl told police that Baez sexually assaulted her beginning when she was 4 and from ages 18 to 23 when Baez-Cisneros lived in Byron.
The charges followed an investigation into what police say were self-inflicted gunshot wounds while Baez was on duty June 2.
Baez-Cisneros' attorney, Christa Groshek, said in court Thursday that it wasn't clear who shot the officer. Groshek said he "vehemently denies" the accusations.
