Rivalry revival

Kansas and Missouri, keepers of the nation's fourth-longest college football rivalry, are scheduled to resume their bitter Border War. The former Big 12 rivals agreed to a four-game series starting in 2025.

The rivalry, dating to 1891, has been on hiatus since Missouri departed for the SEC in 2012.

Missouri leads the series 56-55-9, taking that one-game advantage by winning the most recent matchup at Arrowhead Stadium on Nov. 25, 2011.

Cowboys land Dalton

Quarterback Andy Dalton and the Dallas Cowboys agreed on a one-year deal for the former Cincinnati starter to be Dak Prescott's backup.

Dalton is guaranteed $3 million and could earn up to $7 million, two people with knowledge of the deal said. He was released by the Bengals on Thursday.

Dalton, who was born and raised in the Houston area, led TCU to an undefeated season in 2010.

Exodus continues

Katie Rietkovich Browder, hitting coach for the Gophers softball team the past two seasons, was added to Jamie Trachsel's staff at Mississippi. Rietkovich Browder is Trachsel's first hire since she left the Gophers for Ole Miss.

Rietkovich Browder's departure leaves Piper Ritter, Gophers pitching coach for 13 seasons, in charge of the softball program until Trachsel's replacement is hired.

Numbers

2 Horses trained by Bob Baffert that won the Arkansas Derby's two divisions Saturday. Charlatan won the first, Nadal the second.

2 Times Secretariat won the Kentucky Derby: once in 1973 and virtually on Saturday, when this year's race would have been run if not for the coronavirus pandemic.

2 NFL teams where defensive end and 2017 first-round pick Taco Charlton flamed out in three seasons. Kansas City's giving him a shot now; Dallas and Miami tried.

Go ahead, dance

The Chicago Bulls were halfway into their last dance with Michael Jordan when they took on the Timberwolves on Dec. 30, 1997. Translated: Jordan's career was nearly over. And he'd never lost to the Wolves.

Story's end: Wolves 99, Bulls 95.

Kevin Garnett, Stephon Marbury and Tom Gugliotta all stand out in this game, and there's this: Kevin Harlan makes the call.
