Colin Kaepernick survived San Francisco's roster cuts on Saturday when the 49ers determined that his ability as a quarterback more than offset any potential distraction over his refusal to stand during the national anthem.

The 49ers announced that Kaepernick, Blaine Gabbert and Christian Ponder will be the team's three quarterbacks to start their first season with Chip Kelly as coach.

Kaepernick's performance had plummeted in recent years after he led San Francisco to the Super Bowl following the 2012 season and the NFC title game the following year. He was slowed in the offseason after undergoing operations on his non-throwing shoulder, right thumb and left knee.

Eagles: No clear starter

The trade of Sam Bradford and the release of McLeod Bethel Thompson leaves the Eagles with two quarterbacks. No. 1 draft pick Carson Wentz missed the last three preseason games after breaking his ribs, leaving Chase Daniel as the apparent starter, but Eagles personnel boss Howie Roseman said coach Doug Pederson has yet to declare a starter.

Packers cut Sitton

Green Bay released three-time Pro Bowl lineman Josh Sitton, who had started 112 of 121 regular-season games since being drafted in the fourth round in 2008 out of Central Florida.

Sitton, 30, was entering the last year of a five-year, $33.75 million extension.

Sanchez era ends

Mark Sanchez, Denver's biggest offseason acquisition, didn't make the roster but joined Dallas as a backup later in the day, according to the Cowboys' website.

Sanchez was beaten out by Trevor Siemian, a seventh-round pick in 2015 from Northwestern.

The backup is Paxton Lynch, a rookie first-rounder from Memphis.

Etc.

• Detroit cut former Michigan standout Jake Rudock, choosing to keep only Dan Orlovsky behind starter Matthew Stafford. Another former Big Ten quarterback, Indiana's Nate Sudfeld, stayed as Washington's third quarterback.

• Former Minnesota State Mankato offensive lineman Chris Reed made the Jacksonville Jaguars' roster. Reed signed as an undrafted free agent with Jacksonville last summer.

• Browns cornerback Justin Gilbert, who started only three games over two seasons after being chosen No. 8 overall in 2014, was traded to the Steelers.

The Jets kept all four quarterbacks — Ryan Fitzpatrick, Geno Smith, Bryce Petty and Christian Hackenberg.

Perla is one of 113 UC employees found to have violated the system's sexual misconduct policies in rece
