Senior defender Matt Richard's tiebreaking goal in the 61st minute gave Bloomington Jefferson a 2-1 victory over crosstown rival Bloomington Kennedy on Thursday in a Metro West Conference boys' soccer match.

The conference-leading Jaguars, ranked No. 12 in Class 2A, improved to 11-2-2 overall and 7-0 in the Metro West.

The loss was the first in conference play for the Eagles (8-3-4, 4-1-2).

The Eagles scored first, on Eric Fuentes' goal in the eighth minute. The Jaguars tied the score on Hunter Jacobs' unassisted goal in the 30th minute.

The Jaguars will close the regular season with a nonconference game against Prior Lake on Saturday. Prior Lake is ranked No. 11 in Class 2A.
