A cold front passed through the region Saturday, resulting in a wind shift to
the northwest, which forced any escaping radioactive matter to track out to
sea.
A continued general north-to-northwest wind through Monday would allow any
leaking radiation to move southeast along immediate coastline before going out
to sea.
The recent cooler weather will continue on Monday along with dry conditions.
A warming trend is expected after Monday as high pressure builds back over northern Japan. This will also result in a period of dry weather for cleanup efforts.
