Japan Disaster Area Wind Update

April 2, 2011 at 7:36PM

A cold front passed through the region Saturday morning, resulting in a windshift to the northwest, which is forcing any escaping radioactive matter totrack out to sea.

(The Minnesota Star Tribune)

A continued general north to northwest wind through Monday would allow anyleaking radiation to move southeast along immediate coastline before going outto sea.

Behind this frontal boundary it will be cooler on Sunday and Monday. Generallydry weather is expected with nothing more than an isolated shower on any day.

A warming trend is expected after Monday as high pressure builds back overnorthern Japan. This will also result in a period of dry weather for cleanupefforts.
