When they first saw the Nov. 29 edition of ESPN the Magazine, Lindsey Vonn's relatives had the same reaction that readers probably did: "Wow, there's Sharon Stone on the cover."
But it was the Twin Cities-raised skier, in the kind of tight dress the actress wore in her signature scene in "Basic Instinct."
"By far, the most common comment from my family and friends is just how much I look like Sharon Stone," said Vonn, who was born in St. Paul and grew up in Apple Valley and Burnsville. "They said it was uncanny. They didn't realize it until they saw the cover."
Sexy photos are nothing new for the 26-year-old. In February, when Vonn became the first American woman to win Olympic gold in the downhill, she also graced the pages of Sports Illustrated's swimsuit issue.
So what's next, maybe something even more risqué?
“I don’t know if I’d ever do Playboy,” Vonn said, giggling and sounding as though she were blushing over the phone. “I don’t know if my grandmother [in Wisconsin] would approve, and she’s important to me.”
