Islamic Center buys new building

Expansion in Minneapolis occurring where many members live

Tawfiq Islamic Center in Minneapolis is expanding.

According to a certificate of real estate value filed with the state Feb. 20, the center has purchased a commercial building at 2400 Minnehaha Av. In Minneapolis for $1.3 million. The seller was B&K Investments of Lauderdale.

The center said on its website that the new building "is located in the heart of our community where most of our community members live." The expansion means Tawfiq will be one of the biggest Islamic centers in the Twin Cities. The center was previously located at 2900 Lyndale Av. N.
