DO IT NOW
Now that the days are getting longer, your houseplants should be getting an energy boost from that added sunshine. Want to give them another boost? Repot any that have outgrown their containers. Be sure to select a pot that's only about 1 inch bigger than the current pot and loosen any roots that have become pot-bound.
HOT TICKET
Fans of the art form will want to pick up the Handmade Tile Association's 2009 guide to tile and mosaic artists. The free directory contains samples of the work of 38 local and national artists and related resources, a calendar of national tile events and articles from tile notables. Contact www.handmadetileassociation.org or call 612-781-6409.
WE SPOTTED IT
The bull's-eye has trained its sights on London-based designer Orla Kiely. Her line of house and table wares will start trickling into Target stores Sunday. Items from magazine files and totes to shoe organizers to dishes, napkins, table linens and serving pieces are stamped in her colorful graphic style. Modern flowers, pears and scribbled lines are rendered in colors of sky, chocolate, pear green and orange. Organizing pieces will be the first to arrive, with dishes, such as those pictured, scheduled to be in stores starting Feb. 15. The line ranges from $2.49 for a small plastic tumbler to $21.99 for a tablecloth.
