Dads truly are all-purpose people. They can be pillars of strength; a soft touch, especially when it comes to daughters; and just plain silly. (They're called "dad jokes" for a reason.) But in looking through all the photos readers submitted for this week's theme, it seems to be the tender moments that stand out. And who says those tender moments can't also be a bit silly? Happy Father's Day.
Ingrid Remak of Minneapolis says of dad Bruce Remak: “Even from a young age I was trying to squeeze your gentle, playful and thoughtful ways into my being. Still trying.” (The Minnesota Star Tribune)
Janice Wiest Walton of Carver sent this favorite photo from her wedding in 1973. “I guess his pockets were empty after paying for my wedding. Unfortunately, he passed away suddenly less than a year later, so this was one of my last pictures with him.” (The Minnesota Star Tribune)
Eileen Westburg of Minnetonka loves this candid photo of her son, Steven Wilson, and his daughter Molly Mae chatting during a family picnic about 19 years ago. “As a mother, it’s a sweet memory watching a son as a father relating to his little girl in such a loving way.” (The Minnesota Star Tribune)
