Saturday was supposed to be Isaiah Livers' triumphant return after a six-game absence for Michigan.

Instead, Illinois' Ayo Dosunmu spoiled the party, hitting a winning jump shot with 0.5 seconds remaining to beat the Wolverines 64-62 at Crisler Center and hand them their fourth straight loss.

The 21st-ranked Illini (15-5, 7-2) moved a half-game ahead of Michigan State for first place in the Big Ten.

Livers appeared to re-aggravate his groin injury in the second half after hitting the floor hard while attempting a dunk. He shot two free throws before exiting the game.

Dosunmu scored a game-high 27 points on 11-for-18 shooting.

The Wolverines (11-8, 2-6) missed five consecutive free throws down the stretch.

No. 24 Rutgers 75, Nebraska 72: Geo Baker hit a three-pointer with 1.2 seconds left to send Rutgers (15-5, 6-3 Big Ten) past the Cornhuskers (7-13, 2-7) and raise the Scarlet Knights' home record to 14-0. Rutgers' unquestioned leader waved off his teammates before drilling the final shot on a step-back jumper.

No. 1 Baylor 72, Florida 61: The visiting Bears (17-1) extended their winning steak to 16 games with a victory over the Gators (12-7). Baylor matched the best 18-game start in school history, achieved two other times.

No. 3 Kansas 74, Tennessee 68: Udoka Azubuike had 18 points, 11 rebounds and four blocks as the host Jayhawks (16-3) escaped with a victory over the Volunteers (12-7). Kansas played with just seven scholarship players because of the suspensions of Silvio De Sousa and David McCormack for their roles in Tuesday night's brawl with Kansas State. It was the 300th straight sellout at Allen Fieldhouse.

No. 15 Kentucky 76, No. 18 Texas Tech 74: The Wildcats (15-4) ended the Red Raiders' 54-game home winning streak against nonconference teams. The Red Raiders fell to 12-7.

North Carolina 94, Miami 71: Roy Williams passed mentor Dean Smith on college basketball's all-time wins list. Williams now has 880 wins, fourth-best all-time. The host Tar Heels (9-10, 2-6 ACC) had lost five in a row and dropped six straight league games for the first time in program history. Brandon Robinson scored a career-high 29 points.

Area colleges

NSIC men: Caleb Wagner scored 47 points — the most by a Warrior since 1989 — in Winona State's 87-85 overtime loss at Sioux Falls. It tied for the second-highest output in school history. Wagner was 18-for-22 from the field and 6-for-7 from three-point range.

MIAC men: St. John's (17-1, 13-0) won its 17th straight game with a 78-71 victory over Carleton in Northfield.

MIAC women: Bethel (17-0, 12-0) remained perfect on the season with a 79-75 victory over Hamline in St. Paul.
