The stage is set for ice along the eastern flank of the Appalachians fromVirginia to upstate New York. Low-level cold air will not get out of the waybefore moisture invades from the southwest. The result will be sleet andfreezing rain with the worst conditions from central Virginia northward. Anyice that might happen along the I-95 corridor will not last very long. The buildup of ice will bring down some power lines, but this will probably notturn into a destructive ice event with widespread and prolonged power outages.
