Federal agents arrested a Twin Cities independent journalist and former CNN anchor Don Lemon after they reported on a protest at a Twin Cities church earlier this month.
Journalist Georgia Fort’s attorney said she was arrested at about 6 a.m. and taken to Whipple Federal Building.
The Justice Department attempted to charge Lemon after the disturbance at Cities Church in St. Paul, where demonstrators chanted “ICE out” after they determined one of the pastors works as the acting director of ICE’s field office in St. Paul. A judge had rejected charges against Lemon.
After the Trump administration signaled that a drawdown of federal agents in Minnesota was on the horizon, President Donald Trump said federal agents are not pulling back “at all.”
Trump also criticized the Minneapolis man who was fatally shot by federal agents in south Minneapolis last week. Trump labeled Alex Pretti an “agitator” and said he may even be an “insurrectionist” after new video showed a clash between Pretti and federal agents less than two weeks before his death. The video showed Pretti kicking out a taillight on a vehicle being used by federal agents.
Here’s what else you need to know:

- More than a week before he was killed, Pretti was tackled by federal agents after he cursed and flipped them off as they drove by, according to bystander video obtained by the Minnesota Star Tribune.
