Human remains found in ashes of hunting shack near Tower in northeastern Minnesota

TOWER, Minn. — St. Louis County authorities say human remains have been found in the ashes of a hunting shack near Tower in northeastern Minnesota.

A statement from the St. Louis County sheriff's office says the owner of the hunting shack discovered the structure had been destroyed Saturday evening, and found the human remains in the burned-out shack.

The cause of the person's death, the person's identity and the cause of the fire have not yet been determined.

The state fire marshal's office and the St. Louis County medical examiner's office are assisting with the investigation.

The site is about six miles southwest of Tower.
