Apple Valley guard Gary Trent Jr., the son of former NBA player Gary Trent, was offered a scholar Monday by Duke University.

Trent is ranked among the top players in Minnesota's 2015-16 junior class and also received offers Monday from Oregon and Iowa, according to his Twitter feed.

Duke, of course, was the school that landed Apple Valley's Tyus Jones, who was named Most Outstanding Player in this year's NCAA Final Four and has decided to enter next week's NBA draft after one season with the Blue Devils.

Minnesota is also recruiting Trent, who was named MVP of the U16 Championships of the FIBA Americas tournament in Argentina over the weekend.

Trent is playing summer AAU basketball for the Howard Pulley Panthers, where he leads the Nike Elite Youth Basketball League in scoring with a 22.1 point average.

His father played in the NBA for 10 seasons, including his last three with the Timberwolves. He retired after the 2004 season.
