Just because you have a little extra color in your face from last weekend's sunburn doesn't mean you should skip the blush. Blush is makeup's unsung hero and when applied correctly, can warm up your complexion, create the illusion of cheekbones and even make you look younger, said Twin Cities makeup artist Mark Navarro (MarkNavarro.biz). Here are his tips for getting the perfect dewy glow on your cheeks.

• Opt for gel and cream blushes to beat the summer heat. Blush sticks are popular and can be used to contour and enhance your cheeks while also giving you a sheer, dewy look.

• Don't use powder blush to contour cheekbones. Instead, use a slightly lighter colored foundation above the cheekbone to enhance your cheekbone structure.

• Using a large fan brush, apply powder blush along your cheekbone.

• Start with a little cheek color and slowly add more to achieve your desired look.
