The stock market surged for a second day on Thursday, pushing major indexes back into positive territory for the year. Stocks rose on speculation that the world's central banks will continue their policies to bolster economic growth. The Standard & Poor's 500 index rose 36.24 points, or 1.8 percent, to 2,062.14.
The Nasdaq composite rose 85.72 points, or 1.8 percent, to 4,736.19.
