Several months ago, the news came out that the Gophers and Wisconsin would play each other outdoors in Chicago this coming season. But Minnesota never had an official comment, because the four teams involved in the doubleheader had not signed the contracts. Apparently they now have: A news conference is scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday on the 50-yard line at Soldier Field, home of the NFL's Chicago Bears.

The Gophers will play the Badgers on Feb. 15 at Kohl Center, then take a day off for travel and to get accustomed to the ice at Soldier Field. The doubleheader, called the Hockey City Classic, will be Feb. 17.

Notre Dame and Miami, two CCHA teams, will play in the other game. The Gophers game will be a historic one, in one sense, because it will be the last time the two border rivals meet in a WCHA game.

Intersport, a Chicago-based sports and entertainment marketing agency, and the Chicago Park District called the news conference, to which each team will send a representative. Forward Zach Budish, a redshirt sophomore and assistant captain last season, will represent the Gophers.

Durham delivers for Saints Miles Durham broke out of an 0-for-15 slump to double and score the first run of the game and Anthony Claggett had a nice spot start as the Saints defeated the Sioux City Explorers 3-1 at Midway Stadium on Monday.

Durham went 2-for-3 with a run scored and a stolen base.

Claggett, normally a reliever, allowed four hits, struck out four and walked two in five innings.

The remaining schedule is favorable, but their hopes of a late-season run were dulled by a home loss to the Terrapins.
