Hitting the heights

"In the Heights: Chasing Broadway Dreams" (7 p.m., KTCA, Ch. 2) is, sadly, not a full production of the Tony-award winning musical -- but it's almost as good. This documentary follows a mostly unknown cast as it prepares for a risky show, one that certainly didn't promise success. If you're looking for a real-life "A Chorus Line," this is your ticket.

Road trip If someone ever persuades me to get a tattoo -- and I pray that day never comes -- I certainly hope that I won't get one in a bus. Of course, my skepticism means I wouldn't get the chance to be inked by Thomas Pendleton, a master at his craft who shares his art form by traveling across the country in a 1970s tour bus that looks nothing like the Partridge Family's wheels. His adventures are chronicled in the new series "Tattoo Highway" (9 p.m., A&E).

Long live the king George Strait, who has won about a zillion awards, adds another notch to his Texas-sized belt when he's honored during "George Strait: ACM Artist of the Decade All Star Concert" (7 p.m., WCCO, Ch. 4). In addition to some shiny hardware, the King of Country will be serenaded by Martina McBride, Alan Jackson, LeAnn Rimes, Keith Urban and part-time cowboy Jamie Foxx.
