St. Paul's Matt Vanda ground out a majority decision over Tocker Pudwill of Bismarck, N.D., in a match of 160-pound veterans on Saturday night at Target Center.

The co-main event on the six-bout card went to Wilton Hilario with a fifth-round TKO over Allen Litzau. This was billed as being a fight for the IBA Americas superfeatherweight title.

Litzau's brother, Jason, stopped Phillip Payne earlier in the night with a fifth-round TKO. Phil Williams, a promising 175-pounder, had his bout cancelled when a substitute for an injured opponent weighed in at a too-light 159 pounds.

The attendance was announced at 3,594, more than 1,000 above what promoters said they needed to make a profit on the first of a series of cards planned for Target Center.

The Gophers played with more urgency, but it wasn’t enough to keep them from another conference sweep, and they lost LJ Mooney to injury in the process.
