Have you noticed a breeze over Minneapolis lately? It might have emanated from flapping wings at the seventh annual Social Butterfly.

Held, very appropriately, on the rooftop of Seven Sushi on May 15, the Children's Cancer Research Fund event gave five women an excuse to flit through the crowd as they competed for the first "Most Social Butterfly" title. The winner was selected by secret ballot at the party.

For nominee Kate O'Reilly, the evening was all about "being out in the charitable community."

For Cate Lehman, another contender, it was about mixing it up. "It's fabulous. Everyone is fluttering around," she said.

Indeed, wallflower behavior wasn't tolerated, even for shrinking violets such as nominee Moe Regnier. "I'm not social," she said, "but I have a lot of random friends." She added that she'd do "anything for such a great cause."

Thrilled to just be in the running, Lindsay Ferris joked that she was ready to grab the title: "I already have a speech and a pageant cry prepared."

In the end, Christine Vogt, who works for Medtronic, was declared mademoiselle butterfly. For her, the honor was a reward for living in the moment. "When you make a presence for yourself wherever you are, people naturally gravitate to you," she said.

It was clearly her moment to attract a swarm.
