How many kindergartners were eligible for that first-day-of-school photo op Tuesday? Enough to nearly fill the 63,000 seats in the Metrodome. Gender mix by classroom varies, of course, but across all grades, boys outnumber girls. By the time they're in ninth grade, expect that nearly three out of four will graduate in four years. Most of those who don't will keep going. The dropout rate is 6.3 percent.
