A Hennepin County sheriff's deputy has been charged with stalking in Dakota County after an Apple Valley woman he met on an online dating website said he refused to stop sending her messages.
Apple Valley police arrested Brian Rhett Johnson, 31, of Blaine, on Friday. The Dakota County attorney's office charged him Monday with stalking, a gross misdemeanor. Johnson has since been placed on paid administrative leave, a Sheriff's Office spokeswoman said.
According to the charges, Johnson messaged the woman more than 50 times three days after she ended their relationship. Each time she blocked him, Johnson created a new account under a different version of his name.
