The Minneapolis Heart Institute Foundation has scored a heavy-hitter as the keynote speaker for its annual Spirit of the Heart gala on Oct. 29 – former President Bill Clinton.
Clinton, of course, has experienced his share of heart troubles, including a bypass surgery and stent implantation.
Since leaving the White House, Clinton established the William J. Clinton Foundation, which includes a health-access initiative to give people suffering from HIV/AIDS access to life-saving drugs. Other initiatives address global climate change, sustainable economic growth in Africa and Latin America and childhood obesity in the U.S.
A national leader in its field, MHI’s foundation focuses on cardiovascular education and research. The gala will be held at the Hyatt Regency in Minneapolis.
