It's the time of year for Heisman Trophy finalists and bowl game overload to dominate national sports coverage. In Minnesota, it's also become custom to glance an eye toward smaller-level football with teams like St. Thomas, St. John's and Minnesota Duluth making postseason pushes.

This week, some national attention has been thrown into that local mix.

Newsweek on Wednesday published an article on the Tommies' football program. It centers on Jordan Roberts, the 6-foot, 222-pound running back. In addition to his 29 touchdowns this fall, Roberts is also part of the undergraduate seminary - St. John Vianney.

The headline of the article? "The Cleated Cleric"

St. Thomas plays host to Linfield on Saturday in the Division III national semifinals.
