Havlat becomes Wild's second All Star

Team's leading scorer named as replacement for injured players

January 25, 2011 at 8:20PM

Just want to throw up a quick post reiterating what Russo has already tweeted and what has already been updated on this site. Winger Martin Havlat has been named to the All-Star game and will accompany defenseman Brent Burns to Raleigh, North Carolina, for the game.

"I am really happy to be going to the All-Star Game," Havlat said Via e-mail with Russo. "It's an honor to be selected."

This is the second time the Wild has had two players to go the game. the other time came when St. Paul hosted the event in 2004, when goalie Dwayne Roloson and defenseman Filip Kuba played.

Havlat has had a very strong season and was worthy of the selection, which came after some players had to pull out because of injury. Havlat leads the Wild with 43 points (13-30--43) and is a plus-1 in 48 games.

I'll have more reaction from Havlat and coach Todd Richards in tomorrow's paper.
