Have a hoot at owl festival Houston, Minn.

Visitors can meet Alice the Great Horned Owl during the Festival of Owls Friday through next Sunday at the Houston Nature Center. Other activities will be held at sites around town, including live owls, owl-calling workshops, a birding and natural history guided bus tour and dinner, an owl prowl (an outdoor program to call for wild owls), a hooting contest, storytelling and more (1-507-896-4668; www.festivalof owls.com).

Soar with (or look at) the eagles Wabasha, Minn.

The National Eagle Center in Wabasha will offer bald eagle programs and ideal viewing from its observation decks during Soar With the Eagles March 7-9. Watch eagles fly above the Mississippi River from the decks, on a bus or aboard a paddleboat.
