A 22-year-old man from Hastings died early Wednesday when his pickup veered off a road in northern Minnesota’s Lake of the Woods County and struck a tree.
David Wigness was driving south on Hwy. 172 just before 7:30 a.m. when his vehicle ran into a ditch and hit a tree near County Road 214, according to the Minnesota State Patrol. Wigness, who was alone in the vehicle, died at the scene.
He was wearing a seat belt, and no alcohol use was detected, the patrol said.
