Hamline men's hockey coach Scott Bell resigned after six seasons to "pursue other opportunities," the school said.

Bell guided Hamline to the school's first NCAA tournament appearance in 2010-11 after capturing the MIAC playoff title. He helped turn around a program that had only two conference victories in the two years before he arrived.

A 1995 graduate of the University of Minnesota, Bell was a two-time captain for the Gophers.

Bell said he has accepted a job with Stryker, a medical device company, and will probably stay active in the Upper Midwest Elite hockey league.

"I needed to change the atmosphere and look for something different," Bell said.
