Senior defenseman Lee Stecklein's goal in the fourth round of the shootout gave the Gophers the extra point in the WCHA standings after they tied North Dakota 2-2 on Friday night at Ralph Engelstad Arena. Officially, the game will be called a tie.

Stecklein scored on Lexie Shaw after the first seven shooters — four for UND, three for the Gophers — all missed.

The No. 2 Gophers (11-1-1, 9-1-1-1) fell behind the No. 9 Fighting Hawks (6-4-3, 5-4-2-1) by two goals in the opening period. Gracen Hirschy scored a power-play goal for UND at 6:30. Vilma Tanskanen got the second goal at 8:45.

The Gophers' Dani Cameranesi cut UND's lead to 2-1 with a backhander at 4:37 of the second period. Cameranesi struck again at 10:31 of the third period to tie the score at 2-all. It was her NCAA-leading 14th goal.

"I'm really proud of our team for coming back," Gophers coach Brad Frost said. "It showed a lot of character."
