The No. 1-rated Gophers and Bemidji State tied 2-2 on Friday at Ridder Arena in WCHA women's hockey, with the Beavers winning the shootout 2-1 for an extra point in the conference standings.
"It's a tough result, losing another shootout, but I thought it was a good hockey game here tonight," Gophers coach Brad Frost said. "I thought Bemidji played extremely well, especially through the first two periods. They continued to block shots and cause problems around their net. They make it very difficult to get into the scoring area."
Defenseman Rachel Ramsey's power-play goal for the Gophers (7-0-2, 5-0-2 WCHA) with 1 minute, 18 seconds to play in the third period tied the score at 2-2.
Lauren Miller's goal had given the Beavers a 2-1 lead at 12:20 of the third period. Brittni Mowat made 47 saves, including three in overtime, for Bemidji State (4-4-1, 1-3-1).
