A scoreless first period was followed by a six-goal second, sending the No. 2 Gophers women's hockey team to an 8-1 victory over Minnesota State Mankato on Sunday for a series sweep at Ridder Arena.

Kelly Pannek had two goals and three assists, Dani Cameranesi had two goals and two assists and Nicole Schammel also scored twice for the Gophers (11-1, 9-1 WCHA), who ran off five more second-period goals after the Mavericks' Amanda Conway tied the score at 1-1.

Sarah Potomak had a goal and three assists, and Taylor Williamson capped the scoring with a goal late in the third.

"The first line again, they're playing at a whole different level," coach Brad Frost said. "It was great to see secondary scoring again tonight with Schammel and Williamson."

Katie Bidulka made 20 saves and Chloe Crosby 12 for MSU Mankato (2-9-1, 0-9-1).
