Junior goalie Noora Raty got her fourth shutout of this season -- and 20th of her career -- last Saturday as the Gophers beat Wisconsin 1-0 at Ridder Arena

She also was in the nets when the Gophers tied the then-No. 1 team in the country 3-3 on Friday but lost in a shootout. For those efforts, Raty, of Espoo, Finland, was named the WCHA's defensive player of the week.

Raty had 34 saves Friday, which tied her season high, and 32 on Saturday. She had a .956 save percentage during the weekend.

Raty is second in the nation with a 1.28 goals-against average. And she needs only one more save to tie Erica Killewald (1998-2001) for the career shutout record of 21 at Minnesota.

The Gophers are the new No. 1 team this week.

* Ohio State forward Natalie Spooner of Scarborough, Ont.., was named the conference's offensive player of the week. She had three goals and one assist as the Buckeyes split at St. Cloud State.

Amanda Kessel of the Gophers also was nominated for this award.

Forward Rachael Kelly of Bemidji State was named the rookei of the week. Kelly, a freshman winger from Rosemount, had two assists and was a plus-3 as the Beavers beat Minnesota State on Saturday.
