Unbeaten Gophers face winless foe

Preview: After a come-from-behind 77-69 victory at Boston College on Sunday, the No. 13 Gophers return home for their next-to-last nonconference game. The Gophers (9-0) outscored Boston College 21-9 in the final 7½ minutes to remain unbeaten. Coppin State (0-7) is playing on the road for the seventh time in eight games. The Eagles are coming off an 87-62 loss at Ohio University on Saturday. The Gophers are the fourth Top 25 opponent the Eagles have faced this season. The Eagles also have played at West Virginia, Maryland and Mississippi State.

Players to watch: Gophers sophomore G/F Destiny Pitts scored a career-high 35 points against Boston College. Pitts is averaging 13.8 points and has made 11 three-point shots in the past two games. She made a season-high six three-pointers and made 10 consecutive free throws in the final 42 seconds Sunday. C Annalese Lamke is contributing 10.2 points and 7.4 rebounds per game. F Chance Graham, a 6-0 junior, leads the Eagles in scoring (15) and rebounding (10.3). G Brooke Fields, a 5-6 senior, is averaging 11 points.

Numbers: The Eagles are 1-30 in nonconference games and 4-36 in road games since the start of the 2016-17 season. The Gophers have allowed more than 53 points just twice in nine games. This is the first meeting between the two programs.
