The Gophers are without three starters for Saturday's game against Maryland.

Cornerback Duke McGhee was not on the field for pregame warmups, while wide receiver Demetrius Douglas (undisclosed injury) and center Jared Weyler (foot) were not dressed.

The absence of McGhee adds to concerns for a secondary that lost cornerback Zo Craighton for the season to a leg injury. McGhee is tied for fifth on the team with eight tackles and has two pass breakups and one forced fumble. Adekunle Ayinde is McGhee's backup.

Douglas, a true freshman, ranks second on the team with 11 receptions for 83 yards. With Douglas out, the use of Eric Carter and Philip Howard likely will increase. Chris Autman-Bell, another true freshman, was not dressed and appears to be headed to a redshirt season.

Weyler also missed the Sept. 16 game against Middle Tennessee. Conner Olson started in his place that game and was taking first-team snaps in warmups Saturday.
