The No. 16 Gophers improved to 4-0 with another two wins Saturday in the SportCo Kickoff Classic in Las Vegas.

Minnesota beat North Dakota State 4-0 in its first game on sophomore righthander Amber Fiser's two-hitter and senior center fielder Dani Wagner's three-run homer in the fifth inning. Gophers new coach Jamie Trachsel was the co-head coach of the Bison for six years before taking over the Iowa State program last season.

The Gophers then beat tournament host UNLV 3-0 in the second game on Sydney Smith's eight-hitter. She is a junior transfer from LSU who played for Maple Grove in high school. Danielle Parlich had RBI singles in the first and third innings for the Gophers and Sydney Dwyer hit a solo homer in the fourth.

Minnesota will play Creighton at 11 a.m. Sunday in its final tournament game.
