Coach Richard Pitino talked last month about his Gophers' nonconference basketball schedule this fall being one of the toughest in the Big Ten — and now he's adding to it.

The Gophers and Utah will soon agree to a home-and-home series, a source told the Star Tribune on Monday.

Already looking at a slate that includes Texas A&M and either Washington or Santa Clara at the Vancouver Showcase in November, Boston College on the road (for the Big Ten/ACC Challenge) and Oklahoma State at U.S. Bank Stadium in December, Minnesota will now add the Utes, who have been above .500 in the Pac-12 each of the past four seasons.

A date for the Gophers-Utes game has not yet been set. The Gophers will travel to Utah in the 2019-20 season to complete the series.
