Gophers coach Tracy Claeys met with the media again after Wednesday's practice. A couple quick updates:
* Running back Rodney Smith is probable for Saturday's game against Illinois. Smith missed last week's game at Iowa with an ankle injury that he suffered the previous week at Ohio State. Smith leads the Gophers with 550 rushing yards. Shannon Brooks, a two-time Big Ten Freshman of the Week, is second on the team with 462 rushing yards.
* Redshirt freshman Jerry Gibson has moved to defensive end. Gibson had been working at tight end.
