Gophers' TV schedule on FSN out at last: 28 games in HD

FSN will broadcast 28 of the Gophers' regular-season games this season, the Big Ten Network three, so only three will not be aired.

The Gophers will have 31 of their 34 regular-season games broadcast in high definition either on FSN (28) or the Big Ten Network (3).

FSN, short for Fox Sports North, will broadcast all 17 of the Gophers' 18 home games, and 11 road games.

Anthony LaPanta will be the new play-by-play man, replacing Frank Mazzocco. Several different people will take turns replacing Doug Woog, the color analyst.

Tom Chorske and Rob McClanahan, two ex-Gophers, will be in the booth with LaPanta for the first and second series, respectively.

Chorske will analyze the Gophers' first two games against UMass on Friday and Saturday. McClanahan will work during the first WCHA series against Nebraska Omaha the following weekend.

Kevin Gorg and Larry Olimb will get their turn as analysts, too.

This season Woog will offer analysis before and after games on Qwest Gophers Live.

Only two games will be shown on tape delay. The Oct. 29 game at CC will start about 10 p.m., or 90 minutes late. The U's home game with Denver on Feb. 11 will be shown at 9 p.m., about two hours late.

The three game which will not be broadcast are, two road games at Michigan Tech on Nov. 19-20 and the Gophers' first game in its holiday tournament at 6 p.m., Dec. 31 against Union.

LOOKING BACK

In the 2009-10 season, FSN carried 28 of the Gophers' 36 regular-season games -- they got to play two more than usual because their two games at Alaska Anchorage did not count toward the maximum -- and Minnesota's games in the WCHA playoffs. That turned out to be just three first-round WCHA games at North Dakota.

Three games FSN did not carry, the Big Ten Network even though only one involved a second Big Ten school, in this case Wisconsin.

Games not televised: Nov. 28 at Michigan State, Dec. 11-12 at Michigan Tech and Jan. 29-30 at Alaska Anchorage.

Five Gophers games on FSN were shown on tape delay. The worst case was a Saturday night game on Oct. 24 at Denver. It was shown at 3 p.m. Sunday. Four other games were all pushed back three hours because of Wolves or Wild live coverage. ... The first 13 games of the season were all on FSN.
