The Gophers, led by senior Lindsay Mable, finished third in the Big Ten women's gymnastics meet in Lincoln, Neb. Mable tied for first on the balance beam and, for the second year in a row, was named the gymnast of the year.
Michigan won its third team title in a row (197.125), with Nebraska finishing second (196.900), ahead of Minnesota (196.575). The Gophers' Jenny Hansen was named coach of the year after her team won the regular-season title with a 9-0 record.
U softball splits
The No. 22 Gophers softball team got routed 10-1 in five inning by Tulsa in its first game of the Rock Chalk Challenge in Lawrence, Kan., but beat the host Jayhawks 4-2 in the second game.
Sophomore Kylie Stober started against Tulsa but lasted only two-plus innings before being relieved with the Golden Hurricane ahead 7-0. Junior Sara Groenewegen of the Gophers (17-8) pitched an eight-hitter against Kansas and struck out eight.

• Senior Sean Donnelly, a transfer from Division III Mount Union, set a Gophers record in the hammer throw on Friday night at the Baldy Castillo Invitational in Tempe, Ariz., with a winning toss of 243 feet, 11 inches. It also broke a meet record dating to 1998.
• Junior Yu Zhou took second in platform diving (331.90 points) at the NCAA women's swimming and diving championships in Atlanta. Sophomore Brooke Zeiger placed eighth in the 1,650 freestyle (16:00.64). Minnesota was 16th in the team standings with 70 points.
• Emma Paulson of St. Thomas won the 200 backstroke (1:56.33) at the NCAA Division III championships in Greensboro, N.C. Earlier she won the 50 freestyle and 100 backstroke.
• Winona State's Eboni Jackson won the all-around title and tied for second on the balance beam at the National Collegiate Gymnastics Association Championships in Brockport, N.Y.
