Gophers softball coach Jamie Trachsel recorded her 300th coaching victory Sunday when the Gophers beat Texas 3-1 in Austin, Texas.

The victory improved the Gophers to 15-7.

Gophers pitcher Amber Fiser allowed one run and eight hits in six innings to improve to 8-5 on the season. Rachel Lowary retired the Longhorns in the seventh to earn the save.

Maddie Houlihan, Natalie DenHartog and Hope Brandner drove in runs for the Gophers.

St. Thomas to host D-III Frozen Four

The NCAA Division III women’s Frozen Four will be played at the University of St. Thomas Arena, with the Tommies facing Hamline in the second semifinal at 7 p.m. on Friday.

Plattsburgh State will face Adrian at 3 p.m. in the first national semifinal.

The winners will advance to the championship game at 7 p.m. Saturday. The semifinal losers will play for third place at 3 p.m.

Key singles victory leads U past Badgers

Josip Krstanovic’s three-set victory at No. 1 singles gave the Gophers men’s tennis team the decisive point in a 4-3 victory at Wisconsin. Krstanovic fought off two match points in a 4-6, 7-6, 6-4 win over Osgar O’Hoison. The Gophers earned another key point when the No. 3 duo of Jackson Allen and Eli Ogilvy beat Lenard Soha and Jesper Freimuth 6-4, the first doubles point the Badgers have lost this season.
