Dani Cameranesi's hat trick — on three consecutive goals in the middle of the game — carried the Gophers to a 5-0 victory over Minnesota State Mankato on Friday night in a WCHA game at Ridder Arena.

The senior forward got her first goal on a power play at 13 minutes, 36 seconds of the opening period. Then she got two goals in the second, her ninth and 10th of the season, at 14:50 on another power play and at 19:03.

Cameranesi got her hat trick on just five shots on goal. Linemate Kelly Pannek assisted on all three and now has 14 assists this season.

"Kelly is a great player," Cameranesi said earlier this week. "In fact, she's given me quite a few easy tap-in goals, she's done all the work and then I just stand there. It's been awesome playing with her."

The win for the Gophers (10-1, 8-1), ranked No. 2 this week by USCHO.com, extended their unbeaten streak over the Mavericks (2-8-1, 0-8-1) to 42 games (41-0-1) dating to Dec. 7, 2007.

Nicole Schammel and Sydney Baldwin had the Gophers' other two goals, in the sixth minute of the game and the 16th minute of the final period.

The Gophers outshot MSU Mankato 35-10. Sidney Peters got the shutout; Katie Bidulka had 30 saves for the Mavericks.
