The Gophers continued the makeover of their defensive line group on Sunday, Jan. 11, with a transfer portal commitment from former Marshall defensive tackle Sidikiba (Sid) Kaba.

A Columbus, Ohio, native who spent the 2023 and ’24 seasons at Western Michigan but did not see game action, Kaba, 6-3 and 289 pounds, played in nine games for Marshall in 2025. He finished with 18 tackles, three tackles for loss and a half-sack.

A three-star recruit out of KIPP Columbus High, Kaba received scholarship offers from Michigan, Michigan State, Penn State and West Virginia during his prep recruiting.

Kaba joins Marshall defensive tackle Naquan Crowder in committing to the Gophers. They also added former California end TJ Bush Jr. and former Florida International tackle Xion Chapman to their defensive front. Kaba will have two years of eligibility remaining.

The addition of Kaba gives the Gophers 19 players in their 2026 portal class. As of Jan. 11, their transfer class was ranked No. 24 nationally and fourth in the Big Ten by 247Sports.The portal closes Jan. 16.
