IMPACT PLAYER: Brittany McLean, Gophers

The 6-1 sophomore outside hitter from Rosemount played in just one set last season and only eight so far this season heading into this weekend. But playing in all three sets Friday in her first NCAA tournament game, McLean led the game with 13 kills and was second in hitting percentage at .355.

5 Service aces for the Gophers, including three from senior middle blocker Molly Lohman.

30-20 Junior setter Samantha Seliger-Swenson’s double-double of assists and digs, both game highs.

9-4 North Dakota Fighting Hawks’ advantage in blocks in the match.

The Gophers will play Northern Iowa in the second round at 8 p.m. Saturday at Maturi Pavilion (Big Ten Network). Northern Iowa (27-8) entered the weekend sporting three players — Piper Thomas, Karlie Taylor and Bri Weber — with 400 or more kills this season.
