November 5, 2012 at 5:22AM

Gophers at a glance: Minnesota beat Minnesota State Mankato 81-56 in its exhibition opener last Thursday. Trevor Mbakwe and Mo Walker made their long-awaited returns, and Joe Coleman led the Gophers with 21 points. On the down side, the Gophers barely outrebounded Minnesota State (36-30) and had 14 turnovers.

Southwest Baptist at a glance: The Bearcats have lost their first two exhibition games by a total of 49 points to Arkansas and Drake, but it did lead Drake at halftime 44-42. The Bearcats have just two seniors and seven freshmen but return two players who scored in double digits last year: Kyle Sloan and Preston Guiot.
