The Gophers football team landed two commitments Saturday — one from a highly sought defensive back and one from an under-the-radar defensive end.

Coney Durr, a consensus three-star defensive back from Dutchtown High School in Geismar, La., picked the Gophers over reported offers from Kansas State, Purdue, Wake Forest and Memphis.

Durr was a high school teammate of Zo Craighton, another consensus three-star defensive back who redshirted for the Gophers this season.

Their other commitment Saturday came from Taiyon Devers, a defensive end from Georgia Prep Sports Academy who had no other reported offers and had yet to garner star rankings from the various recruiting services.

Both Durr and Devers announced their decisions on Twitter. The Gophers now have 17 players committed for 2016.
