Gophers land another receiver recruit

January 30, 2014 at 3:12AM

Two days after landing Melvin Holland Jr., a 6-3 receiver from Ashburn, Va., the Gophers got a commitment Wednesday from another big-body receiver, Isaiah Gentry, 6-4, from Cincinnati Moeller High School.

Holland and Gentry are both consensus three-star recruits. Gentry flipped his commitment from Kent State during an in-home visit from Gophers coach Jerry Kill on Tuesday night.

Josh Helmholdt, the Midwest recruiting analyst for Rivals.com, was impressed with the Gentry news.

"Hard to overstate how big a grab Isaiah Gentry is for #Minnesota," Helmholdt tweeted (@JoshHelmhodt). "Late bloomer was sensational as a senior."

The Gophers have 17 players committed in this year's class, with signing day coming Feb. 5.
